چکیده

The effect of fenugreek oil (FO) on some parasitological, immunological, and biochemical parameters in mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni were investigated. Chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis FO revealed that linoleic acid, (E,E)-4decadienal, isopropyl myristate are the major constituents FO. results showed treatment S. mansoni-infected 0.15 ml daily for 10 successive days exhibited a significant reduction number male worms, coupled worms as compared to an control group (p<0.05). Regarding total egg counts oogram patterns, effectively reduced percentage hepatic intestinal counts, elevated immature dead eggs ratios closely praziquantel (PZQ) treated mice. Meanwhile, significantly levels glutathione co-enzyme Q-10 (COQ-10) up 0.33±0.02 ng/ml 0.28±0.02 ng/ml, respectively. However, when accompanied PZQ, COQ-10 level was closer normal (0.37 ± 0.021 ng/ml). result also lipid per-oxidation (0.165±0.01 ng/ml) vascular endothelial growth factor (0.25±0.02 pg/ml) PZQ-treated (0.234±0.02 0.31±0.008 pg/ml, respectively). Moreover, recovered values caspase-7, annexin-V reduced. PZQ led increase It can be concluded may have potential anti-schistosomal, antioxidant anti-inflammatory activities. Also, it recovering apoptotic toward values.

In vitro estrogenic activities of fenugreek Trigonella foenum graecum seeds.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Trigonella foenum graecum commonly known as fenugreek, has been widely cultivated in Asia, Africa and Mediterranean countries for the edible and medicinal values of its seeds. Earlier reports show that fenugreek seeds provide a mastogenic effect resulting in enhanced breast size. However, very little is known about its estrogenic effect. The present study investigated th...

Extraction of Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graceum L.) Seed Oil Using Subcritical Butane: Characterization and Process Optimization.

In this study, the subcritical butane extraction process of fenugreek seed oil was optimized using response surface methodology with a Box-Behnken design. The optimum conditions for extracted oil from fenugreek seed was as follows: extraction temperature of 43.24 °C , extraction time of 32.80 min, and particle size of 0.26 mm. No significant differences were found between the experimental and p...

Determination of Steroidal Saponins and Fixed Oil Content in Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) Genotypes

Trigonella foenum-graecum, commonly called fenugreek, is a leguminous plant native to many Asian, Middle Eastern and European countries. Fenugreek oil is very effective in digestion. Identification of fenugreek genotype rich in saponins and fixed oil will be useful for pharmaceutical industries. In the present study, steroidal saponin and fixed oil content was analysed in 46 diverse fenugreek g...

Activity of Superoxide Dismutase and Catalase in Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) in Response to Carbendazim

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is an annual herb, used as a spice and traditionally as medicine. Fenugreek finds its uses in treating hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and disorders of gastro-intestinal and cardiovascular systems. Fenugreek cultivation in India is affected by fungal diseases like root-rot and damping-off and fungicides like carbendazim are used to overcome these infections. ...

Effects of fenugreek seeds (Trigonella foenum greaecum) extract on endurance capacity in mice.

The present study was designed to determine the effect of fenugreek seed extract (FG) on endurance capacity in male mice aged 4 wk. Mice were given orally either vehicle or FG (150, 300 mg/kg body weight) by stomach intubation for 4 wk. The 300 mg/ kg FG group showed a significant increase in swimming time to exhaustion as compared to the control group. In the FG groups, blood lactate concentra...
